Job Description

Summary Were looking for aSenior Volunteering & Community Officer to join the team at Dunham Massey. If you have experience in volunteer management then wed like to hear from you. This post will lead on developing a community volunteering & engagement model,to support the delivery of two local green space regeneration projects North of the Dunham Massey estate.Please upload a CV with a covering letter stating your suitabilityfor the role. What its like to work here Dunham Massey is a 3,000-acre estate situated approximately 10 miles south of central Manchester and three miles south of Altrincham. Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, gave it to the National Trust in 1976 and today it attracts over 500,000 visitors a year.This elegant Georgian mansion, set within a magnificent 300 acre deer park and including one of Britains finest winter gardens, is a very popular visitor attraction with over 100 staff. The busy team has a strong commercial focus and a fast-paced environment.Within the park walls there is also a shop, caf, restaurant and ice cream parlour. On the wider estate, there are 20 farms, 100 cottages, a golf course and an award winning housing development. The house, garden and parkland hide many layers of history andhave many stories to tell. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing In this role you will be working in partnership with two housing associations on projects to improve urban green spaces for people and wildlife.With most of the physical transformation of the space completed at Broadheath community garden, the next stage of the project is to build a sustainable model for continued use of the space.This will include working with residents and local stakeholdersto create volunteering opportunities, engaging the community with the space, and formalising the process for allotment holders.At the Redbrook Trail in Partington you will be exploring opportunities to increase use of the space to benefit wellbeing and increase nature connection. There will also be some light touch conservation work to carry out on the trail with corporate volunteersand groups, for example Balsam bashing, wildflower plug planting, and cutting back of vegetation.You will be a point of contact for the housing associations, regularly reporting to them throughout the year and carrying out monitoring and evaluation of the projects.   • Understanding and good practice of volunteer management.
  • Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working.
  • Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong communication skills.
