Job Description

Senior Fire Engineer (Passive Fire). (CEng)

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Travel abroad once every 2 months
  • Salary: £70,000 basic salary plus 25% bonus
  • Location: Manchester

  • Provide engineering evaluations for European and Global Passive Fire Protection applications. You will review technical documents, building codes and regulations and influence construction specifications.
  • Support of cross functional teams on new product introduction and product development
  • Training customers, sales representatives, and international partners
  • Providing test configuration and set up in accordance with recognized standards
  • Interfacing with Technical Assessment Body (TAB) or global testing and certification agencies
  • Collaborate with Research & Development and Business
  • The role will support sales teams with providing technical expertise to specifications. You will also present products from their technical portfolio and respond to technical questions.
    • Experience/ Qualifications required:
  • Bachelor s degree (CEng)or higher (MEng) in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Commercial construction industry experience (including passive fire protection trade)
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment - Architects, Engineers, and Contractors
  • Test laboratory experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Application Engineering/Technical Service experience
  • Experience in the fire protection market segment
  • Technical expertise and practical experience with construction adhesives
  • Adept at influencing construction specifications; Conversant at all stakeholder levels: Building Owner, Architect, Code Officials, General Contractors, Sub-Contractors (management and skilled trade professionals)
  • Understanding of European and Global building codes
  • Data analysis and database management
  • Computer drafting (2D & 3D)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Expertise with British Standards (BS), European Norm (EN), Construction Products Regulation (EU) 305/2011, European Technical Approval Guidelines (ETAGs), European Assessment Document (EADs), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) fire test standards
  • FIRAS Accredited, FSIDip, NVQ Level 2 Passive Fire Protection (min), FDIS Certified, CSCS skills card, SSSTS Certified
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Microsoft Office proficient
