Job Description

Senior Finance AdvisorReporting to CEOFull time, fixed term, 12-month contractSalary: approximately ~ £50,000 depending on experienceRolling applications, with a view to recruit ASAP. London based.Job DescriptionWere hiring a Senior Finance Advisor to lead Make My Money Matters policy work in support of our mission to ensure the trillions of pounds invested by UK savers helps build a better world. Specifically, this role will focus on identifying and driving efforts to green the global pension industry, and scope opportunities related to the wider financial sector.This is an exciting opportunity to join a high profile start up committed to changing the world. The ideal candidate must be ambitious, personable, and creative, with a proven track record in achieving change within the world of sustainable and responsible finance. We want someone with a good understanding of the financial sector, established relationships with key stakeholders, and knowledge of the reforms needed to shift finance into sustainable and responsible practice. It will require an ability to work effectively with the campaign team and external partners to translate complex reforms into attractive campaigning actions and advocacy goals. Spearheaded by film maker, UN SDG Advocate and co-founder of Comic Relief, Richard Curtis, Make My Money Matter works to transform the financial system so it puts people and planet on a par with profit.Our campaign includes three core workstreams:

  • Public Campaign: were delivering high profile, public campaigning to show the power of our money as a vehicle for good. Using creative techniques, we tell the story of how our money can create a better future for people and planet
  • High Profile Partnerships: were transforming how NGOs, businesses, universities, local authorities, and public figures think about sustainability to ensure their money aligns with their values, and builds a better world
  • Policy and Advocacy: were working with partners including advocacy groups, government agencies, and the finance industry to create a unifying call for policy reforms that transform the system from within. Well advocate for these goals at key national and global moments, including COP26 and the G7Our campaign has had significant success since launch in July 2020, and we have ambitious plans to grow our impact in 2021 and beyond.WHO WERE LOOKING FOR:Were looking for an exceptional candidate with a proven track record in sustainable finance. You will understand how personal savings are invested through pensions and banks, the impact of investments on people and planet, and the reforms needed to shift finance into sustainable investment, including alignment with the Paris Climate goals.This is role requires someone comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, juggling a variety of priorities, and operating in a fast-paced setting. You will be a flexible and enthusiastic team player with a track record of problem solving, creativity and delivery.Your responsibilities
  • Continue to develop Make My Money Matters policy position and scope future areas for reform that can drive more sustainable and responsible practice.
  • Undertake advocacy with the sector, industry, government, regulators and international organisations to secure meaningful policy commitments.
  • Convene partners to amplify Make My Money Matters policy goals and build momentum within the sector to achieve commitments.
  • Lead on the research and publication of proprietary reports related to the sector.
  • Work with international partners to co-ordinate global policy and campaign efforts
  • Develop our approach to the banking sector, including building partnerships, scoping policy and advocacy opportunities, and identifying where the campaign will add value.
  • Monitor and evaluate activity and contribute to organisational evaluations, including commissioning, interpreting and sharing campaigns insight work.
  • Support strategy development, operations and fundraising as required within start up environment, where everyone is a team player.
  • Were looking for someone with:
  • A passion for our mission, and a belief in a more sustainable economy where people have more voice and choice around how their money is invested.
  • A proven track record in financial services and/or sustainable finance
  • Experience in using policy, research and analysis to achieve regulatory change or advocacy goals
  • Demonstrable experience working with senior stakeholders and high-profile figures, and the capacity to quickly build trust and establish relationships.
  • A strong understanding of key policy and regulatory issues in sustainable finance, and the role of government/regulators in the UK and internationally.
  • An understanding of key stakeholders and influencers across the financial sector
  • Good knowledge of key issues, including climate, sustainable and responsible business, global economics, international development or wider public policy.
  • Sound judgment, good attention to detail and a solution orientated mindset.
  • Creativity, humour, proactivity; a sense of urgency for change; a great team player.
  • Experience in entrepreneurial settings, working independently and to tight deadlines.
