Job Description

Based in Middleton, Greater Manchester our client is a manufacturing organisation who is seeking an individual to join their Procurement team as a Procurement Assistant. This is an office based role working Monday -Thursday 8.30am5.30pm and Friday, 8.30am-3.00pm.THE JOB:Reporting to the Procurement Manager, as Procurement Assistant you will be responsible for chasing outstanding orders, ensuring all materials are delivered on time, checking order acknowledgements, and dealing with invoice related queries. You will alsobe expected to support the Procurement team with the processing of purchase orders and the setting up and maintenance of the stock records.Your duties will include:

  • Following up non-delivered supplier purchase orders and back orders
  • Chasing suppliers to ensure products are delivered on time
  • Checking supplier order acknowledgements
  • Reconciling credit card statements
  • Dealing with supplier invoice queries
  • Processing purchase orders
  • Obtaining quotes from suppliers and feeding information back to the relevant Departments
  • Setting up and maintaining stock and supplier records
  • Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers
  • Managing price change/information changes.
  • Setting up supplier accounts
  • Assisting with generic buying email mailboxes
  • Assisting with the biannual inputting of stock take
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the central materials library
THE PERSON:The ideal applicant will be a highly experienced Procurement Assistant that is currently working in a similar role (ideally within a manufacturing environment) with a minimum of 3 years experience. The ability to work to your own initiative with very littlesupervision is essential as you will be expected to manage your own workload and after initial training be able to hit the ground running. You must be highly organised with the ability to multi-task and work in a calm and professional manner when working underpressure. A solid working knowledge of all the MS Office packages is required, including Excel. You must be a strong team player with good problem-solving ability, have a can-do attitude and a proactive approach. Good negotiation skills and the ability tobuild strong working relationships with suppliers is also required.THE BENEFITS:
