Job Description

The Health Educator within the Work and Health Programme (WHP), will support participants to better manage their health and wellbeing to support their return to appropriate workThe role will primarily involve the delivery of health and wellbeing workshops and groups both face to face and remotely.Duties;

  • Empowering participants to change their lifestyle behaviours and promoting independent management of their general physical, psychological, and social wellbeing;
  • Scheduling and delivering health and personal support related group activities (such as Exercise and Physical Activity, Healthy Eating, Good Sleep Guide); based on feedback from participants, Keyworkers, Health and Disability Specialists and Managers;
  • Marketing and maximising participant engagement for health and life chances group activities;
  • Directing participants to access appropriate self-help material related to managing their health and wellbeing;
  • Assisting with the development of the health and life chances service on the WHP;
  • Facilitating group sessions effectively and delivering workshop content as per lesson plans;
  • Ensuring that the required number of group workshops are delivered each month, as per key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Ensuring that minimum standards of attendance at workshops is achieved, as per KPIs;
  • Collating workshop feedback, reviewing workshops and sharing a summary of participant feedback with line manager, as per KPIs;
  • Supporting behavioural change within a group setting using evidence based approaches;
  • Monitoring participants individual health and wellbeing throughout group activities and reporting significant changes which may impact, positively or negatively, on a participants recovery/return to work and relaying this to the participants Keyworkeras part of the participants Personal Support Team
We are looking for people with one of the following qualifications;
  • A relevant City and Guilds Level 3 Health Trainer or equivalent NVQ and/or relevant Public Health qualifications i.e. Association for Nutrition and Exercise Professionals
  • Physical activity qualification
  • Formal training related to either teaching, counselling or group leadership
  • Attended/observed an expert patient programme (EPP) or similar course
  • Undergraduate degree in a health or counselling subject (health psychology, public health, nutrition and exercise science, health promotion, nursing)
Along with;
  • Experience of delivering group sessions or workshops, ideally in preventative health, public health or health awareness
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
This role will be 3 days from an office and 2 days working from home.
