Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Head of User Centred Design to lead our user experience and design team, to craft and deliver digital products, propositions and experiences. The Design practice consists of User Experience Researchers, User Experience Designers and Visual Designers. The team plays a critical role in ensuring that the products and experiences delivered to our customers are not only useful and useable, but that they accurately reflect our brand and make a positive impact on our customers lives, whilst also supporting the delivery Avivas strategy and commercial objectives. This opportunity is perfect for you if youre seeking a challenging position to work on complex and exciting products. You will be responsible for the delivery of user experience artefacts, including journey maps, user flows, wireframes, research reports and global design standards. As the Head of User Centred Design, youll be making decisions regarding the process for the delivery, execution and sign-off of user experience, visual design and research, working within a scaled, agile delivery model. Youll be inspiring change and innovation within the user experience and design practice, to constantly improve the quality and effectiveness of the work. Responsibilities in the role: Manage the oversight and development of approximately circa 35 people; junior, midweight, senior, principal and Lead UX Designers and Visual Designers and UX Researchers Manage the expectations of senior stakeholders to enable them to understand the need for robust UX and Visual Design processes, including design thinking, research and testing Present the outcomes of your work to industry associates or potential partners for Aviva Build the system conditions for good design work and good customer outcomes Work in partnership with stakeholders across the business including (but not limited to), Brand, Marketing Content, Product, Engineering, Change, Legal, Risk and Compliance Ensure that the design practice at Aviva is continuously evolving and modernising Create and execute plans for the ongoing development of the team Responsible for a team budget and the management of Workday, temporary staff timesheets, systems access and other administrative accountabilities for each of your direct reports Collaborate with colleagues outside of your practice, across the Product and Engineering Teams and beyond, to improve the quality of the work delivered and the efficiency of work delivered by your team Engage with third party suppliers for the purposes of procuring and managing their services Recruit and build a team of world class practitioners and leaders across the end-to-end user experience and design practice Skills and experience were looking for: Excellent user experience design capability, understanding and executing user experience, visual design, research and strategy Advocate and be an ambassador for user centred design within a complex organisation Experience leading design teams that deliver work within a large and complex organisation Ability to manage complex problems and able to deliver elegant, intuitive customer experiences Understand technology and be able to collaborate with technologists Deliver products that span many touch-points, across different channels Great organisation skills with a record of accomplishment in design execution across multiple, concurrent programmes Experience working in a scaled agile delivery framework What will you get for this role Competitive salary depending on skills, experience and qualifications Generous defined contribution pension scheme Annual performance related bonus and pay review Holiday allowance of 29 days plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days Up to 40% discount for some Aviva products through "My Aviva Extras" plus discounts for Friends and Family (some exclusions apply) Excellent range of flexible benefits to include a matching share save scheme Working at Aviva At Aviva, were people with a purpose.
