Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a Greater Manchester Local Authority for aHead of Highways Construction Maintenance Services. They are seeking an experienced candidate who is available for at least the next 3 months.The Role

  • To lead our Highways Construction Services, service performance, capital and revenue budgets in line with the council’s corporate objectives and values, in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Identify, Develop and implement innovative solutions for the services.
  • Providestrong leadership and clear direction to the division to achieve transformational change and co-ordinate the effective delivery of services
  • Inspire and provide senior management support to employees within the division, motivating and supporting them to attain the highest professional standards, skills, knowledge, attributes and competencies required to fulfil their duties
  • Ensuring that the services are delivered in line with the agreed policy and targets, maximising social value in the delivery of the service in Salford
  • You will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of people using all modes of travel on our 8,000 km road network.
  • Be responsible for the Health and safety, Quality and Environment of the operations.
  • Work in partnership with all GM Districts and TFGM for efficient network management and collaboration as required.
  • Work closely with the Heads of technical services and Place, encourage close liaison between the technical services and other Place Directorate teams to maximise the opportunities to deliver service excellences and growth within our City.
  • Work closely with elected members and senior leadership to ensure the effective delivery of services.
  • Provide visible, strategic leadership for the division as part of the Regeneration Senior Management Team and Leadership team within Place, and embodies the City Council’s Leadership Framework
  • Through personal example, commitment and actiondevelop an inclusive, supportive and constructive environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and diversity is valued in the workplace, in service delivery and communications.
