Job Description

In a nutshellFinance ownership and responsibility for Contact Centres across both Sainsburys and Argos, incorporating end to end budgeting, reporting and stakeholder management. Deliver challenge and insight to the Contact Centres Leadership Team on all financial aspects whilst ensuring a robust financial environment within which to drive sound commercial decision makingWhat I need to doResponsible for:Building the Corporate Plan for Argos and Sainsburys Contact centresSetting the Corporate Budgets for all brandsManaging periodic accounts and maintaining a tight cost controlProviding updates for the Retail Leadership Team, Business Performance Review meetings, Capital Returns Forum and Financial Planning as requiredIndirect management of shared C4 resourceResponsible for the integrity of the Contact Centres P&L lines with a full understanding of the Balance Sheets for those areas.Provide Retail Financial Planning & Analysis with timely and accurate periodic performance and variance analysis.Track risks/opportunities and provide a rolling forecast of expected full year performance.Prepare papers for key decision makers summarising business plans and key risk and opportunities to the full year budget.Develop financial models for reporting and budget implementing the new chart of accountsWork closely with Procurement and the Contact Centres Leadership Team through a re-tender process. Implementing a controls framework for tracking the costs and benefits from the transition and support with the financial evaluation of the project as part of the Post Implementation Review.Provide challenge to the Change and Operational teams, to identify cost saving opportunities to embed in the budget/forecasts.Develop, manage and maintain the relationship with the Procurement team to ensure all contracts are clearly understood, that savings delivered are real savings and are accounted for correctly, and that Finance and Procurement together deliver the embedded savings targets.How I will succeedProvide a robust set of financial KPIs on a periodic basis, provide insight of the drivers of performance and make future projections as to the opportunities to deliver improvementsDevelop a robust budget and planning framework that sets realistic but challenging targets that reflect the growth nature of the business in line with the Corporate Plan.Support the business in delivering the Retail cost savings programme, identifying opportunities and validating and challenging assumptions.Support in the delivery of the chart of accounts and proposed changes to store reporting.What I need to knowQualified accountantCommercially aware with a clear focus on driving excellent financial & commercial performanceFlexibility and a can do attitudeHigh level of energy and driveAbility to adapt to a constantly changing environmentAttention to detailStrong organisational skillsWhat I need to showStrong commercial acumen, willing and able to challenge accepted practices and processes, seek performance improvements and to operate as a sounding board for colleagues.Awareness of developing and maintaining a framework of strong financial controls.The ability to combine strategic and analytical perspectives with a pragmatic approach.
