We are currently looking for a Fermentation Technician to join a growing chemical biotechnology company based in the Greater Manchester. As the Fermentation Technician you will be responsible for preparing fermentation experiments and working with bioreactors.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Your duties as the Fermentation technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. Preparing and running lab scale fermentation processes through the preparation of media and other solutions. These can be up to 100L size bioreactors. 2. Using downstream separation processing for micro-organisms such as centrifugation, separation, de-emulsification and solvent extraction. 3. As a Fermentation Technician, you will use aseptic techniques for microbial cell bank preparation and innoculum. 4. Performing a variety of advanced and quality control analytical techniques such as HPLC, titrations, MS, GC and FTIR.ROLE REQUIREMENTS:To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the production technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. Relevant Bachelors degree in a life sciences subject such as biotechnology, bioprocessing, microbiology, bioengineering etc...2. Proven industry experience in fermentation and micro-organism culturing such as with bacteria or virus. Industry experience in the food, brewing or microbiology sector would be ideal. 3. A working knowledge and practical experience with fermenters, bioreactors, microbial cell culturing and aseptic techniques.
