Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Family Support Worker working at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a full-time role for the next 3 months.The RoleYour role will be to support the SGO Team on Salfords Friends and Families assessment team. You will also support with workshops, support visits, support sessions, administration of SGO tasks.Duties

  • To contribute to and implement individual plans for children and young people, in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and other agencies.
  • Work directly with children, young people, and families, providing practical help, advice and guidance on issues affecting family, relationship, and functioning, whilst subject to child protection/child in need plans and /or in the care of the Local Authority.This will include welfare visits and family support tasks at family homes and other designated venues.
  • Develop a local knowledge and understanding of resources which are available to meet the needs of the child and family, e.g. local childrens centres, family activities, leisure facilities, support groups for child/family, support of health related issuessuch as sexual health or drugs.
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of cases, through observations, assessment, and monitoring, ensuring actions are followed up.
  • To ensure files and records are accurately maintained, reflecting partnership with families, and maintained in accordance with Council policies and procedures. Information should be appropriately shared with other professionals.
  • Provide written and verbal contributions to child protection/Child in Need reviews, Looked After Children (LAC) statutory reviews, multi-agency meetings and to hold Children in Need cases as appropriate.
  • To supervise,and use observation and assessment skills to provide detailed and accurate recordings.
  • Supervise and ensure the safe, conveyance of children and young people on and off contact venues premises.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of assessments by providing written practical parent observations to the social worker, which may be presented to court as evidence. To attend court in connection with these assessments if required.
Key Requirements
  • Must have previous Support Worker / aFamily Support Worker experience
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update Service
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
  • Strong IT Skills, as you will be uploading important information onto the internal systems
  • Excellent people skills, being able to talk to the public, clients, colleagues, and other senior professionals.
