The Branch Accountant is responsible for the investigation, troubleshooting and assurance of the branch accounting design and setup for the Post Offices core IT system, Horizon and its underlying branch accounting processes.Client DetailsWe are partnering with Post Office Ltd on the recruitment of a Branch Accountant. The company is owned by UK Government Investments.DescriptionOperate as the subject matter expert for branch accounting for the GLO IT team in the triage, investigation, remediation, audit and assurance of Horizon related mattersMaintain a high cadence of output, partnering with the team to establish robust, auditable and efficient processes and controls in the addressing of GLO Horizon mattersCreate branch accounting related designs that align to accounting and technical standards at the Post Office, utilising subject matter expertise and knowledge developed over time of the Post Office accounting approaches and the Horizon systemGovern, assure and audit branch accounting designs and changes related to the Horizon system, working with broader IT, business teams and supplier teams as requiredAdvise other GLO parties (for both internal IT members and third party suppliers) on branch accounting best practice, design, and implementations to assist them in being successful in their rolesAdvise on development and testing of branch accounting changes, providing expert knowledge to support decision making and ensure all involved parties are aware of the accounting considerationsUnderstand the business and technical needs for branch accounting, and support the application of these through challenge, feedback and auditProfileEducated to degree level or equivalentAccounting qualifications - CIMM/ACCA/ACAExperience of Retail branch accounting from medium to large enterpriseExperience of working on IT solutions for branch accounting, including design, implementation and troubleshootingExperience of auditing existing branch accounting practices, processes and IT controlsDemonstrable skills as a self-starter, with the ability to shape and define own work with the goal of problem solving complex issuesA confident written and verbal communicator, able to clearly explain ideas to non-technical audiences, and work effectively with non-technical colleagues and business executives.Good general knowledge and understanding of branch accounting systems and technologiesTechnical expertise includes understanding of/ experience of; Database technologies, particularly Oracle based; Transaction processing in financial systems; Auditing of financial systems, including reconciliation analysis and troubleshooting where discrepancies occurJob OfferSalary: £65,000 + bonus schemeBranch Accountant, London, RetailApplication deadline ; 29 March - interviews ongoing April
