Job Description

The Department Our national Healthcare team provides both a defendant claims handling service for clinicians and NHS employers against claims for injury resulting from negligent clinical care, and also an advisory service offering advice and support to all levels of theNHS - providers and commissioners - including NHS Foundation Trusts (acute and mental health providers) as wells as PCTs. Our clinical negligence team has many years in-depth experience in defending clinical negligence claims. Our approach is meticulous, basedon a deep understanding of the medical environment and NHS procedures, and focused on the facts and evidence presented in each case. Our advisory team advises a number of other specialist NHS bodies and Regulators on a wide range of healthcare law issues includingstatutory obligations, functions and powers of NHS bodies as well as Governance and Risk Management. We also have extensive experience of advising and representing the NHS at inquests and advising on ethical issues including consent and confidentiality. The role PLEASE NOTE:This vacancy is to undertake an administrative secondment atTamesidehospital in Manchester and possibly to support other members of the team at the Manchester office. Therefore, it is preferable if you have your owntransport.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Assisting case handlers by carrying out general case and file management duties
  • Inputting data onto electronic databases
  • Sending post out of the office
  • Outbound telephone calls (under Fee Earner supervision)
  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Setting up IT equipment
  • Monitoring virtual court hearings
  • Filing of correspondence, documents and notes etc on case files
  • Maintaining filing system of all case files
  • Archiving files subject to the supervision of the appropriate fee earner
  • Assisting with printing, saving to case and copying of all documents and preparing correspondence
  • Scanning and allocating post to case plans
  • Copying, scanning and printing for case handlers
  • Taking telephone messages for case handlers
  • Assisting in preparation of document bundles
  • Printing out various documents
  • Opening new files including performing necessary checks and set up, etc
  • All other such administrative and case handling duties as appropriate
  • Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans values
