Job Description

An Oil & Gas Engineering business in Great Yarmouth are looking to expand their Design Team and hire an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, youll join an experienced team of Engineers, working on a wide range of projects for clients all over the world, most of which will relate to drilling riser systems and well abandonment equipment & structures.Based in Great Yarmouth with flexibility for hybrid working, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for design engineering services, offering expertise and advice to internal and external clients, creating designs, carrying out calculations,Finite Element Analysis, drawings, alongside the control of the design elements of each project.Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer include:

  • Create designs and provide design verification services (FEA, hand calculations).
  • Create designs and drawings for manufacture, client review, quotation, in-house marketing.
  • Control the design process, managing the design elements of projects, alongside Project Engineers.
  • Generate Functional Design Specifications for projects
  • Design process control, ensuring necessary requirements are met.
  • Inspection requirements of designs.
  • Support design and commissioning activities.
  • Perform hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis to verify equipment design
  • Check and approve calculations and FEA produced by other members of the team
  • Modify designs, documents, and drawings.
  • Highlight and resolve design issues.
In order for your application to be considered, youll need to demonstrate the following:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
  • Proven experience of working in a Senior Mechanical Design role within the Oil & Gas (or related) industry.
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks.
  • Highly proficient using MathCAD to verify designs by hand calculations.
  • Using ANSYS to perform Finite Element Analysis to verify designs.
  • Confident with the principles of design control.
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, youll earn a competitive salary of up to £55,000 based on your skills, experience and own professional requirements.
