Job Description

SEN Teaching AssistantTeaching Personnel are looking for a SEN Teaching assistant with a background knowledge of care to support students in lessons. The school caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and is a designed specialist centre forstudents aged 3-19 based in Great Yarmouth.The school caters to learners who have both PLMD and autism so experience in either or both of these areas would be ideal.Those who have previous care experience with both adults and children are encouraged to apply as they offer additional training like manual handling, personal care, PEG feeding i.e. that would be an asset for the school.As a SEN Teaching Assistant you would be expected to:

  • Arrive at school on time at 8.30am
  • Meet the student you work for the day.
  • Support them throughout their lessons with learning.
  • Help students with additional needs such as personal care.
  • Make sure that learners are comfortable and safe during lessons.
  • Work well in a team with other teaching assistants and teachers.
  • Finish at 3.30pm

The SEN teaching assistant is expected to be a confident, team player with a background knowledge of supporting PMLD. Formal training is not required as those who have supported family or friends with PMLD will be considered too.
