We also havevarious learning programmes to support you in your development and help you to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimers Society.This role does not include personal care responsibilities.About Alzheimers SocietyWho we are:Alzheimers Society are a vital source of support and a powerful force for change for everyone affected by dementia.What we want:We will not rest until people with dementia and their carers live more fulfilled and less fearful lives, free from stigma and inequality.What we do:We support people affected by dementia through some of the hardest times, to improve lives and help avoid crisis.No matter who you are, whatever youre going through, you can turn to Alzheimers Society for expert support through practical advice, emotionalsupport, and guidance for the next best step.We join forces with people affected by dementia, leading scientists and policy makers, amplifying voices to push for cutting edge breakthroughs and societal change that will improve the lives of people affectedby dementia, now and in the future.How we do it:Were the friendly face of support, the warm voice at the end of the phone and the determined minds who will fight passionately for the cause of everyone affected by dementia.About the roleWe are hoping to welcome an approachable and knowledgeable Dementia Support Worker to work in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.With us, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support and guidance to people living with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.This role supports people pre and post diagnosis, when we interact compassionately face to face, by telephone, in writing and virtually to give people the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future. You will assist people to access otherservices, by signposting and referring.You will provide community based, face to face services for an increased level of support for more complex cases. Managing referrals and assisting people in assessing their information needs in a person-centred manner is key to this role.About youYou will have:

  • Working experience of assessing people face to face and an ability to assess their needs.
  • Experience of delivering advice and guidance with a non-judgmental approach.
  • A solid and compassionate understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers.
  • The ability to work inclusively with people affected by dementia, along with an understanding of the need for client confidentially.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to manage your case load of clients effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.
Person SpecificationYou will:
  • Be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of those affected by dementia.
  • Demonstrate optimism, be engaging, and be a pragmatic individual.
  • Be approachable and friendly, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Great IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft packages confidently.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Be able to travel across Great Yarmouth and Waveney independently.
You may have experience of the following: Dementia Adviser, Care Assistant, Caseworker, Special Needs Assistant, Social Worker, Social Care, Community Care, Helpline Coordinator, Volunteering Officer, Support Worker, Mental Health, Dementia, etc.Ref: 137 391
