Job Description

Rutherford Briant are in the process of recruiting for a Sales Ledger Assistant with an established and highly profitable construction & civil engineering business based in Grays who are ideally seeking an experienced professional to join their finance team.Our client prides themselves on managing three successful companies within their group which collaborate across a variety of sectors including construction and civil engineering. They would like to recruit a Sales Ledger Assistant who can take full responsibilitywithin their Accounts Receivable and Credit Control departments.They are offering a competitive salary up to £28,000 as well as a wide range of excellent benefits including study support & a clear route for progression. They would ideally like to recruit an AAT qualified/part qualified individual who possesses priorexperience within sales ledger & credit control.What you will do:

  • Full ownership of the invoicing for the company.
  • Confident in chasing colleagues internally for information so that invoices are raised at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ensuring accuracy in the amounts being invoiced, cross-checking this to supporting documentation.
  • Regularly reviewing the Aged Debtors ledger, focussing on large-value items and older items and taking a proactive approach to chasing such debt before the debt gets older’.
  • Working with the Finance Director on a weekly basis to help forecast receipts for the coming weeks.
  • Updating the cash flow document on a daily basis.
  • Reconciling customer accounts.
  • Assisting in month end and year end processes in accordance with the relevant timetable.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of the department and using discretion where necessary.
  • Ad hoc duties as required including providing cover for colleagues in the Accounts Department.
What you will need:
  • AAT - Qualified/Part Qualified.
  • Previous experience in sales ledger/credit control.
  • Prior construction/property experience (ideal).
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Solid organisation and communication skills.
