Job Description

ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for an Early Years Teachers experience of SEN to support pupils in Grays and Thurrock who are functioning at theEarly Years Stages.What ASEND Tuition IsWe are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Thurrock who are functioning at the Early Years stages of development. We support pupils with SEND who have struggled to stay in the classroom, whose needs aren’t sufficientlysupported at school or who are not able to access mainstream learning. One of the aims is to prepare them for a return to a suitable school.We tutor children face-to-face in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community and during school times. Our tuition is completely child focused and can be any of developing early learning, academic learning, emotionalsupport and life skills depending on their needs. We look for a similarly wide range of people to tutor our pupils to meet those specific needs and bring them forward and we work very hard to match the tutor with the child who can most benefit from their skillsand expertise.About the roleAn ideal candidate for this role should have 1 or more years of experience working with Early Years pupils. Our pupils can be aged four to seven years old, but developmentally be 12 to 36 months. You may have experience working in nurseries with groups ofchildren or individuals. A tutor who is able to help with progressing through their milestones and is able to work with the needs of a child would be ideal.This opportunity would be ideal for an Early Years Practitioner who is looking for a new role to change their environment or take on a new challenge of older children at levels within your experience. This may be a new move for you, but we have the teamin place to support tutors who want to learn more about how to work with pupils and meet their needs comfortably and successfully.About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: Autism, preverbal communication etc.
  • You’ll have experience and knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stages of learning
  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement
  • Be able to travel to different parts of Thurrock depending on the role
