Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Technician within theProjects team based at our Grantham depot.The successful candidatewill be accountable to the Team Manager for the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead line Steel Tower Network at 33kV and 132kV. In addition you will be responsible for the programming and monitoring of immediate work colleagues, switching up to 132kV, the issuing of appropriate safety documentation and dealing with other tasks appropriate to the Technicians role.You will needto hold a Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering such as City & Guilds 2339 and if not alreadyattained will be required to undertake Level 3. You must also have attained GCSE grade A*-C/4-9 or the equivalent Functional Skills qualification in Maths and English.* Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed to a lower salary range until all necessary training and qualifications are complete.   • The maintenance, replacement and installation of plant, protection, overhead and underground assets on the 132kV and associated networks.
  • The restoration of supplies affected by faults and the repair of the 132kV and associated assets.
  • The first line maintenance, repair and manually controlled operation of fixed gas turbine generating plant.
  • The recording, reporting and diagnosis of system alarms.
  • The issue of safety documents up to 132kV.
  • The organisation of individual projects.
  • The impact of project and own activities on customers, public and the environment.
  • The health and safety of the team.
  • The Ideal CandidateYou must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on the spot decisions as required. You will need good communications skills, a flexible attitude and be able to cope in pressured situations often working to tight deadlines.In addition you will be required to train as aSenior Authorised Person and be mobile throughout the area.
