Job Description

Financial Controller - Goole - £55,000-£65,000Chase & Holland are excited to be working with a highly reputable, fast growing, owner-managed SME business located in Goole. Our client is going through an extended period of growth and as such, are recruiting for a Financial Controller who can come in andplay a key part in the development of the finance department and the business as a whole. You will lead the finance function and play an integral part in the senior leadership team. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller Responsibilities will include:
  • Working with the FD and wider Management Team in driving the business forward
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts, year-end accounts and leading the audit process
  • Developing and improving all systems to provide accurate financial controls and reporting
  • Cashflow management and forecasting
  • Budgeting & forecasting
  • VAT and all other statutory returns
  • Liaising with other departments throughout the business and challenging managers where required to ensure the right decisions are made
  • Liaising and maintaining relationships with a variety of external personnel including auditors, solicitors, insurers, company banking and finance providers
  • Managing a team of 3 to carry out the day-to-day activities of the finance department
  • Attending regular meetings to report the numbers and giving detailed feedback on variance analysis, accurate costing information and the P&L
  • Supporting the Sales Admin Office Manager with any financial information
  • The development of the current costing system to make it more accurate moving forward
  • Stocktakes
  • Assisting the FD with ad-hoc projects, budgeting and reporting as and when required
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified accountant or strong QBE
  • Experience of working within an SME environment
  • High level of attention to detail whilst multitasking and prioritising
  • Good knowledge of Excel and general IT skills
  • Have a genuine desire to be a key part of a growing business and helping it continue to improve
  • Have the confidence to challenge decisions for the good of the business
