Our client in the public sector is looking to recruit a Washroom Assistant in the region of G12 8QQ. Initially for 4 weeks, this generates a pay rate of £9.90. 8-3pm Monday to Friday.Job PurposeTo provide clean and sterile material to customers, to collect and dispose of contaminated laboratory waste in a safe and legal manner. The role is an active one involving physical lifting and moving of large amounts of glassware.Main Duties and Responsibilities1. Use sterilisation equipment to ensure the provision of sterile laboratory glassware, media and contaminated waste disposal.2. Operate glass washing machines to clean laboratory glassware.3. Maintain laboratory consumables.4. Dispose of SAPO waste as covered by legislation.5. Collect glassware and contaminated waste from customers.6. Collect and deliver laboratory laundry (lab coats).7. Provide general laboratory assistance to technical staff, for example, cleaning of benches.The above list is not intended to be exhaustive and the postholder will be required to undertake other duties, in line with the grade of the post, as directed by their line manager.Knowledge & QualificationsEssentialA1. Either: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 3 in English and Mathematics (National 3) or equivalent. Or: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessaryknowledge and skills in a similar role.A2. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and machineryDesirableB1. Up to date knowledge of basic safety legislationSkillsEssentialC1. Ability to follow both written and oral instructionsC2. Ability to work as part of a teamC3. Good generic laboratory support skillsC4. Good communication skills.C5. Basic IT skillsC6. Good numeracy and literacyC7.
