Job Description

Were looking for an experienced Technology Consultant to lead the way and set our direction in a fast paced and busy Technology Operations function, where our priority is to provide technology to support the Data functions carried out within the bank with the end goal of providing a first class colleague and customer experience.What would my day look like Given the broad scope of the role, this is hard to say as no two days are ever the same! This is a varied role where you would be expected to pick up whatever came your way, this may be a production incident that is impacting customers and colleague, developing technical roadmaps towards leading edge solutions, supporting other colleagues in the team or providing consultancy to projects.Working with our partners and vendors is a regular feature of the role. We’re looking for someone who possesses high levels of technical IT expertise, is very much outcome focused and thrives on collaborative working and bringing others along with them on the journey.Flexibility is key as priorities may well change on a daily basis and as a result you will need to be an expert multi-tasker and adept at keeping all those plates spinning. Being self-motivated and with high professional standards, taking ownership and accountability and making decisions is expected and you will be empowered and supported in doing this.What’s missing We are looking for an influencer, communicator and decision maker. We want you to be passionate about technology and instilling that passion in others. We’d love it if you had:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to operate at the highest levels of the organisation
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to adopt an encouraging and enabling style with emphasis on team working
  • Sound and confident decision making
  • The ability to lead discussions around design, data integration, recoverability, resilience, capacity planning and availability
  • Application & Database support experience on multiple Operating Systems e.g. Windows, Linux, Solaris
  • Knowledge of batch scheduling tools such as Control M, RMJ, IBM Tivoli
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s Products and Services within Data Solutions
  • Significant experience in one or more of the following technologies - Database Administration (incl. SQL querying), Data Warehousing, ETL Tools like Datastage & SAPDS, SAS, Data Fabric or Websphere
  • Experience of leading large & complex IT projects from technical perspective
  • Understanding of Cloud terminology, ideally some experience of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Exadata technologies
