Job Description

A technical writer and content developer who will work closely with a development team(s) either physically or virtually embedded, testers and other writers, gathering information from various sources including stakeholders, subject matter experts and pre-release software, and producing a variety content and information deliverables. This will involve participation in the entire software development process from start to finish. In addition, working with the team this individual will contribute towards the delivery, process improvement, and on-going maintenance of the organisation’s product information offering.Skills and Experience

  • 4 or more years’ experience in a technical writing environment
  • A degree in a technical discipline that is applicable for entry to the technical communications profession or relevant practical experience
  • Moderate skills with high level of proficiency
  • Ability to work both independently and with guidance
  • A working understanding of object-oriented software development and object orientated software development terminology is highly desirable.
  • Display ability to work within technical team and content team concurrently and manage own delivery schedule Possess analytical and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as in team environment
  • Understanding of content authoring tools such as Mad Cap, to enable content delivery in a topic-based format
  • Experience of delivering technical content. Works under general supervision. Latitude for independent judgment
  • A degree in a technical discipline that is applicable for entry to the technical communications profession or relevant practical experience
  • Experience researching, planning, and creating technically detailed information content
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to extract information from a variety of differing sources
  • An ability to interact with and understand the varied audiences that material is being created for
  • Solid experience providing written or graphical information for use by others

  • Knowledge/experience of Topic based content development
  • Knowledge/experience of authoring tools (Madcap)
  • Knowledge/experience of content development in a single source environment
  • CSS/HTML knowledge
  • The ability to excel within a cross functional, high-performance team
  • An understanding or interest in Information Architecture
