Job Description

Our client, a highly respected public sector organisation based in Govan require a number of Stores Assistants.The role will be temp for approx. 4 weeks, then going onto a fixed term contract with our client, this will be until the end of March 2022. There may be an opportunity for an extension to this contract.There will be set induction dates of 28/10 and 17/11. This is a four on and four on shift pattern, which includes dayshifts and nightshifts. The shift pattern will rotate throughout the following hours: 6am-4pm, 8am-6pm, 6pm-4am, 8pm-6am.The pay rate will be £9.98 per hour with a 15% shift allowance equating to £11.48 per hour.Excellent benefits include:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring stock is prepared and maintained for detailed storing. Picking and packing of goods from the Store for onward delivery to end users within the lab
  • Responsible for transfer and transporting of goods direct to the lab/end user and between Stock and Bulk Store in a timely and appropriate manner in line with Service Level Agreements.
  • To be the first point of contact for couriers/delivery drivers, updating and management of the receipt of goods delivered by external suppliers, checking for damaged or missing items and to ensure such goods are processed and stored within the relevantstores areas.
  • To ensure that goods are handled and stored in the correct manner according to delivery/storage instructions, moving stock by hand or with machines, taking time to coordinate location pinch points
  • To carry out duties related to the removal of clinical liquid and glass waste from Level 2 & 3 Labs to ground floor waste disposal hold.
  • Responsible for the handling and transporting of various hazardous materials between laboratories and relevant storage areas within the site including solvents, corrosive substances and sharps in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate records, manually and using Oracle Inventory Management system, perform goods receipt and issuing transactions, highlighting issues should they arise to the Team Leader
  • Responsible for general maintenance and cleaning of stores area and equipment including checking wear and tear on a daily basis and report faults or damage to the Team Leader.
Essential Skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload in a rapidly changing high pressure environment -Ability to recognise
  • problems in their infancy thereby preventing escalation
  • Ability to use lifting equipment -Capable of working on own or as part of a team
  • IT competence, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software -Ability to ensure paperwork
  • is completed efficiently and accurately
  • Manual handling experience
