Job Description

Our client, a public sector body based in Central Scotland, are seeking a Senior Programme Planning Lead.This is initially for 6 months with potential extensions.This role attracts a day rate of £450 - £475 (inside of IR35).Due to the current circumstances this role is remotely based for the foreseeable future.Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain, embed and continuously improve the Programme Planning and Dependency Management Strategy including all associated supporting processes, documentation and materials, ensuring alignment to Programme requirements as it moves through its lifecycle.
  • Oversee management of the Programme Planning system via collaboration with assigned PMO planning leads within each Service Area of the Programme ensuring Plans are created to required timescales, quality and navigate the appropriate processes and governanceroutes in terms of approval and maintenance.
  • Lead on the creation, analysis and maintenance of Programme Level Planning artefacts and tools (Programme Plan and Programme Plan Visuals) to the appropriate quality while also seeking out opportunities to continually improve these in line with Programmerequirements.
  • Developing, maintaining and presenting various reports on the Programme Planning position (e.g. Plan development status reports) to meet Programme Governance Board (e.g. Programme Board, Delivery Board) & Programme Manager requirements.
  • Oversee the management of team communications and engagement and personally liaise and communicate effectively with key stakeholders incl. the Programme Director/Deputy Programme Manager, Delivery Teams and other internal and external delivery partners/stakeholders.
  • Day to day management of central Planning Team operations including delegation and supporting team members to deliver an effective service to the wider Programme in line with the principles and line management protocols of the organisation.
Essential Skills:
  • Strong understanding and experience of Planning or Planning Management in the context of a large scale and complex Programme and/or Project delivery environment.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and draw out conclusions, connections and recommendations to guide senior staff and governance groups to make decisions.
  • Excellent verbal, written and stakeholder management and communication skills which enable effective collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels to help ensure team, function and divisional goals are met.
  • Track record of helping lead the establishment and improvement of systems/processes rooted in PPM best practice.
  • A good working knowledge of Project/Programme Planning and Planning software particularly MS Project and JIRA experience.
  • Desirable Skills:
  • Formal Project or Programme Management (PPM) qualification, such as PRINCE2
