Job Description

Our client, a public sector body, see 2x Senior Project Leads on an interim basis of 6 months, with potential for extensions.This role can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh with a degree of hybrid working.The role attracts a day rate of £429 (inside IR35).This role is within the Local Project Management Support Team.Main Duties

  • Leading and driving all PPM activities for Service areas - adding value at all points to ensure high quality outputs and alignment to agreed Programme standards.
  • Line management and task management for a team of Project Lead and Support Officers. Including building PPM capability within the team through structured and informal development activity.
  • Develop a robust understanding of the delivery area you are aligned to, in order to ensure support functions are fit for purpose and align to Programme standards. Prioritising activity according to Programme needs.
  • Work collaboratively and build strong relationships with Service area leads and with LPMST colleagues to drive consistency and sharing of best practice.
  • Lead and oversee development of Programme key artefacts, setting direction and assigning roles/responsibilities. In particular:
  • Lead role in drafting and assuring Business Cases in collaboration Service area experts.
  • Oversee the completion of Strategy Documents, assigned to Project Leads.
  • Ensure plans are developed jn line with PMO planning standards, manage/escalate any blockers until plans are baselined, thereafter ensure Project Leads are supported to actively manage and maintain plans on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the delivery of quality reporting at service level, Delivery Board and Programme Board levels. Working in conjunction with service area leads to ensure an accurate view of deliverability is presented.
  • Ensure Risk and Issue management is delivered according to agreed Programme standards.
Essential skills:
  • Proven track record in providing quality PPM functions to support delivery, including setting priorities for yourself and others, within a formal project or programme environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver quality work, direct staff and build strong effective relationships with stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collate, organise, analyse and use information to plan and deliver services and improvements in a change environment.
  • Experience of supporting, providing guidance to and maintaining the governance and plans for, large, complex business and technical projects using recognised project management methodologies such as Agile and Prince 2.
