Job Description

Pertemps Professional Services team are currently working with a business based in Glasgow City Centre who are looking for a Senior Payroll Advisorto join their team on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is initially due to maternity leave but dueto the rapid growth within the company there is scope for this role to be extended or made permanent.This role could be what you are looking for to take the first steps into Management/team lead roles. Salary for this role is circa £28500.Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior advisor is a key role that will be responsible for supporting the managing and improvements in the payroll processes, while meeting Business and Colleague expectations, through coaching, support and development ofteams and direct reports.

  • Complete and support accurate delivery of all payrolls and working closely with payroll manager
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring teams are aware of legislation and business changes/legislation for payroll and pensions.
  • Support the completion of Payroll and T&A deadlines are met including PAYE.
  • Support reporting of Pension Levy Figures and set up responsibilities, ensuring correct business has distribution of allowance.
  • Extensive knowledge of Holiday, Sickness, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Statutory payments and liabilities.
  • Accurate Payroll Reconciliation, analysis and reporting.
  • Plan working year, with quarterly planning meeting with both departments. Ensuring there is room for ad hoc projects resource and focus.
  • Ensure Taxation knowledge is current and apply all different National Taxation ensuring all colleague fall under the correct limits and thresholds.
  • Dashboard reporting showing team results and delivery to business.
  • Operate continuous improvement and encourage both teams to get involved with a monthly forum within the monthly meeting.
  • Service Level Agreement with Internal and External Department/Parties are met and regularly reviewed to ensure their value.
People responsibilities:
  • Recruit and induct colleagues within the team as required and in line with current recruitment guidelines, ensuring all legal compliance is adhered to.
  • Train, develop and appraise direct reports to ensure effective leadership and motivation of own teams.
  • Ensure all direct reports are validated and delivering all aspects of their role.
  • To manage the team’s conduct and capability and apply the disciplinary procedure in accordance with the company D&G Policy as required.
  • Manage any absence within the team fairly and consistently ensuring a RTW interview is conducted after each period of absence.
  • Conduct monthly 1:1’s
Skills required:
  • Educated to CIPP degree level as a minimum, or equivalent in years’ experience
  • A working knowledge of payroll functions
  • Previous experience of effectively leading a team is essential
  • Strong PC literacy, with experience in extracting, collating and presenting performance data
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong results focus, takes accountability for own performance and that of the team
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making
