OverviewOur client provides a cloud-based web platform (Merlin) to the veterinary industry, supporting thousands of clinics and vets in their everyday activities and are currently scaling out the platform for their customers and their users.As a Senior IT Developer youll be part of a multi-disciplined, highly talented team developing applications and integrations using Java and Javascript technology in Microsoft Azure Cloud.Their teams are fully remote and distributed around the UK with meetings held in Surrey when required.The role:As a Senior Developer you will build and deliver applications and integrations in an agile manner to your customers and their users. As part of your day-to-day activities, you will:Develop cloud based solutions using Java technology in a multi-tenanted environmentWork with the product team on functional and non-functional solutions in a collaborative manner to solve problems in the most efficient wayWork on scaling challenges (performance, robustness, reliability, security) with the cloud-services team on our services-based architectureWork on testing the applications with quality assurance to ensure high quality as well as performing load, stress and security testing with the teamWork with the engineering group on iterating towards the target architecture for the platformProvide coaching and support to junior developers and QAs in the teamEssential SkillsWere looking for people with experience of:Working within multi-disciplinary development teams in fast paced environments with product owners, developers and QAsThe core Java language and ecosystem (Java 8 is used currently)Back-end engineering using Java Enterprise Edition or Spring, including RESTful API developmentExcellent understanding of SQL and working with databases (DDL and DML) - our clientuses SQL Server and have dedicated DBAs and developersExperience working in a cloud-based environment on developer operations problems (Microsoft Azure used currently) - provisioning, deploying and monitoringapplicationsExperience working with build tools such as Maven and CI solutions (Jenkins,Octopus)Experience with test frameworks for unit, integration and API testing (JUnit,Mockito and Arquillian are used by my client).BBBH20197
