Job Description

Senior Engineer - IPMS6 MonthsScotstounPay Rate £38.25 LTDAdvantage Resourcing are recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer within IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System) for an initial 12 month contract in Glasgow to help to deliver all aspects of engineering deliverables including Stage 1 & Stage 2/3 (TBD) Design, and Change, PQ closure, NC closure and more on Naval Ships.The Role

  • Knowledge and experience in use of ship design processes and systems to LCM guidelines
  • Knowledge of Project Management techniques (EV, CPI, SPI, Risk etc.)
  • Ability to assure the CSC Engineering Manager - IPMS that quality, cost and technical activities are all being achieved in line with the agreed programme of work
  • Business Expertise (Requirements of the job for knowledge and expertise about the business rather than the technical expertise)
  • Provide engineering support to the delivery of projects/programmes that are likely to have a value in excess of millions of pounds and have a significant headcount
  • Support development of engineering design and production output data for the project, including responsibility for the Stage 1 Engineering Team within cost, schedule and quality targets
  • Support IPMS engineering management activities, authorising budget and resource allocations
  • Good understanding of project management concepts, principles and techniques and effectively translate them to large and/ or complex projects.
  • Broad knowledge of how to proactively identify, manage and mitigate product safety issues across the product/service area
  • Be able to decompose the system/problem into manageable chunks and to assess the implications of proposed changes on technical, operational and commercial aspects of the complete system or project
    • Qualifications/Functional Knowledge
  • Electrical Degree
  • 1+ years experience in Stage 1 Platform Management Systems Design
  • Experience of working on large, complex projects in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment
  • Electrical Engineering Safety Qualifications/Experience
  • Experience of working on Naval projects
  • Working knowledge of Systems LCM processes & tools
  • Working knowledge of Project Management reporting
