As a Barclays Senior DevOps Engineer for Cloud and Advanced Analytics, you will play an important part in building best-in-class modern data processing platforms, developing data engineering expertise, and sharing collaboratively across the organization.As part of the Chief Technology Office, you will participate in engineering working groups and create intellectual capital by building in-house modern data micro-services and advanced machine learning and data platform capabilities. What will you be doing Designing and building in-house software, architecture and tooling for our realtime and big data platforms Building prototypes and performing demos of emerging data technologies and popular Github projects Providing assistance in build CI/CD, testing and operability patterns across our data systems Engineering with high priority data, analytics and ML projects in different areas of the business Working closely with architects and engineers of all levels in multiple teams across the bank, as well as security and infrastructure teams Analysing user requirements and converting them into technical designs and solutions Understanding the benefits of public cloud platforms and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Cloudformation Staying up to date with the latest data and analytics technology and providing solutions that work at large scale What were looking for: Data engineering capability in SQL and at least one general purpose programming language (e.g. Python, Golang, Java or Scala) Test driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery, AWS and general Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Chef/Ansible Experience in MLOps, Data Science processing pipelines Understanding of core database and/or distributed systems theory, SQL and dataframes, and good theoretical and practical knowledge of Big Data concepts (e.g. Spark) Skills that will help you in the role: Knowledge of Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks; AWS core services (IAM, EC2, Lambda, networking, security) and AWS data (Athena, Redshift, Glue, Macie, S3, etc) Engineering and public cloud certifications; Github account with personal projects or open source project contributions Experience in at least one of the following fields: Machine Learning, Analytics/BI platforms, Metadata tooling, Stream processing, Data Integration Iterative deployment, scrum management, roadmap and release planning and management Where will you be working Our new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration.
