One post offering mixed clinical development & funded doctoral research is available within the internationally renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, based within Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and the lifETIME Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in the University of Glasgow ( The successful candidate will join the EPSRC funded cohort of scientists and academic surgeons within the CDT, and have full access to its multicentre network for research, mentoring, career development support, and preparation to become an academic leader of the future.Candidates should be in possession of the MRCS or equivalent qualification to permit entry to specialty training. Previous experience in Burns and Plastic Surgery is essential, and must be adequate to permit safe practice on the Specialty Training Grade on-call and elective surgery rotas. Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate an academic career trajectory, with focus upon bioengineering for reconstructive surgical applications. This post has an outline research plan based around the use of murine and human dorsal root ganglia for peripheral nerve regeneration research, with a primary bioengineering focus.The post is available from Aug 2021, This post allows for the completion of a postgraduate research degree (PhD) subject to clinical and academic progress reports.
