A unique, cross hospital sited Senior Charge Nurse has opened for a forward thinking experienced clinical expert to join the Gastroenterology Department based within North Glasgow Day units. This unique role is pivotal as it underpins excellent communication skills across the North Sector complex multidisciplinary team. Nursing is the key role in the patient’s journey, expansion of the service, compliance in local and national standards, policies and legislation. The Gastroenterology Day Unit and Medical Day Unit deliver a wide variety of services on an outpatient basis. These include large volume Paracentesis,Blood Transfusions, Iron Infusions, Liver Biopsy, preparation and recovery for endoscopic procedures including ERCP, capsule Enteroscopy. As the service expands and demands change in this field so will procedure support and nurse led interventions. As the SCN you will ensure the leadership is Nurse led across the Day Unit, medical day unit and Stobhill ACH. You will assist specialists co-ordinate clinics e.g. Nurse Led Haemochromatosis. Some work is also undertaken for other medical specialties also and the units comprise of a multi-disciplinary team of Nurses and Clinical Nurse Specialists who work collaboratively to provide safe patient centered day patient care. Successful candidates will need to be highly visible, clinically competent with a can do attitude, accessible and approachable. You should be able to demonstrate a proven record in staff engagement and staff development experience in managing performance, teaching and care accreditation is advantageous, as is a knowledge of budgets and workforce planning. In return the medical service will put your development as a priority. You will be able to access funding to attend relative conferences and Master studies. There is an opportunity to attend ‘Excellence in Care’ and other leadership development initiatives supported by the Scottish Government. There is a robust nursing career within the Medicine North department in G.G.&C. and acting into the role of the Lead Nurse in her absence is encouraged. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have substantial post registration experience.
