As a Barclays Senior Application Developer, youll be responsible for the design, development and implementation of a wide range of solutions for technology and business users, including the Technology Chief Controls Office (CCO) in Sentinel tool. Hybrid WorkingWe are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances What will you be doing Building and integrating solutions for new features or known system defects in the target applications, using java or required application programming language Database performance tuning, database queries optimisation, writing efficient functions, stored procedures and complex database queries. Designing and implementing real-time processing of large volumes of requests in concurrent transactions. Providing estimates of resource required for SQL developer tasks including build, packaging and deployment Taking responsibility for diagnosing problems reported, where the Production Support Team cannot solve without developer support What were looking for: Bachelors /Masters Degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering or equivalent Expertise in Java/Database Coding with experience in core development and stakeholder engagement Solid hands-on experience with DevOps Tools SQL development preferably in Transact/PL SQL including experience of designing, optimising and maintaining a data warehouse and/or transactional systems Skills that will help you in the role: Any hands-on experience with Operational Risk management solutions Expertise on AWS architecture knowledge and hands-on experience on any cloud offering solutions Professional Agile certifications Ability to coach junior team members and review the deliverables of the team is preferred Where will you be workingOur new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration.
