This employer is a Glasgow-based personalised diagnostics spin-out of a larger US-based technology group.Theyre ambitious, growing rapidly, and seeking talented and motivated individuals to join the team.How youll spend your day:Youll be a core member of the R&D team performing biomarker discovery, assay optimisation and validation as part of their clinical service product development efforts. Youll use your translational science expertise and intellectual curiosity to drive your own projects, plan experiments and, analyse data in conjunction with the wider R&D team with the ultimate goal of developing new clinical products.A few examples of a day in the role would be:- Leading/supporting the delivery of diagnostic data work packages to enable regulatory submission and approval inclusive of studies to enable market adoption and life cycle management.- Apply scientific, technical and operational expertise to identify opportunities, propose solutions and work across boundaries in the scientific area of expertise that will enable diagnostic testing.- Building and maintaining a knowledge of current and emerging diagnostic assay technologies in area of expertise.- Accountable for the time and quality of agreed deliverables.- Providing updates on the progress, risks and opportunities of the agreed deliverables to stakeholders.- Taking on small supervisory or training roles.- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all company Policies and Standards and immediately address instances of non-compliance.Abilities and Qualifications that will make you an ideal candidate:- Must have a PhD in Molecular biology or similar field.- Must have laboratory experience in an industrial setting.- Expertise in the use of molecular biology techniques and tools and their employment in diagnostic assays - Excellent knowledge of scientific literature with deep understanding in diagnostic related area demonstrated through publications in peer reviewed journals.- Excellent scientific communication skills with the ability to maintain open communication with co-workers and managers.- Previous experience with laboratory automation and/or LIMS- Broad knowledge of genomic technologies including NGS experience.- Experience working in a CLIA or ISO clinical lab desired.- Experience of leading projects within a diagnostic or drug development organisation- An understanding of companion diagnostic assay development and commercialisation desiredRight to Work In accordance with UK legislation this employer, has a legal responsibility to prevent illegal working and therefore must check that all employees are entitled to work in the United Kingdom (UK).
