Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Resource Manager (ideally site based) to join a transforming business that has been an integral part of shipbuilding on the River Clyde since 1903. Over the past few years, they have pushed the boundaries of innovation,particularly in the development of green propulsion technologiesfirst diesel-electric hybrid and then the liquefied natural gas.You will work broadly across the organisation to understand the needs of each crucial stage of the project. Understanding what skills will be required and when, the volumes and any factors that could change this information.You will need to work with operationalmanagement to plan, build and balance the core and contract skilled trades across all operational aspects of the site and review this against the quarterly manufacturing plan as well as managing the week to week variations in resource demand levels acrossthe site.As a Resource Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • On a 3 monthly basis, from the QLA set demand profiles with the providers for the following quarter to meet the demand.
  • On a weekly basis liaise with Ship, Manufacturing and Planning Management to balance out core and contract resource to cover short term plan variation and optimise value added work of the core and contract workforceensuring that employees are fully utilised.
  • Take responsibility for the collation and accurate management of the input of time sheets into the business cost and hours tracking system (Chronos).
  • Liaising with HR producing ATR and justifications as required relating to future demand, act as the first point of contact for any issues relating to the contractor provision including submission of contractor timesheets and hours verification and any issueswith the contractors supplied.
  • Facilitating weekly resource meeting with ship managers, planning & HR looking at work breakdown and skills to support this.
  • Working with HR to put in place detailed JDs for each of the role types within operations, setting the standard of skills required to undertake each role and working with the L&D manager to ensure that the capability and or qualification for each of theroles is documented to allow employees to be measures against the standard profiles.
  • Engaging with HR to assist in accommodating phased return to work or those requiring lights duties to ensure correct allocation for individuals for the required period of time.
We are looking for a Resource Manager who has the following skills and experiences:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally from an HR or planning background within a fast paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Effective communication and engagement with people across the yard.
