Joining our team as Regional Planner Manager you will work as a core part of the Avant Homes team, supporting the acquisition and development of our sites. You will focus on securing timely planning permissions to meet the business plan and support futuregrowth requirements, as well as advising on the planning prospects of sites the land team are investigating.Key duties and requirementsYour role will be dynamic and varied and some of the main duties will include:

• Developing clear and reasoned planning strategies for sites, assessing opportunities and risks and presenting these to the directors.
• Managing the regional planning application process through ensuring planning applications meet requirements and undertaking negotiations and relationship-building with local planning authorities.
• Researching local authority planning obligation requirements and negotiating contributions under guidance from the directors.
• Managing the drafting and completion of all section agreements with local authority legal teams.
• Influencing the effective and timely discharge of planning conditions.
• Proactively identifying potential long-term development opportunities through your knowledge and understanding of the planning system.
• Working effectively with the Scottish Government planning team and local development plan teams, seeking opportunities to influence policy formulation.
• Participating in Homes for Scotlands committees.
• Taking responsibility for planning matters across the business, providing planning assessments, recommendations to mitigate planning risk and contributing effectively to the agreement and subsequent meeting of site start targets and KPIs.
• Providing effective and relevant planning reports and documentation for each development or phase of development.

Who are we looking forTo be successful as our Regional Planning Manager, you will be able to provide evidence of your previous success in planning delivery. You will be an experienced planner (RTPI or RICS) with drive and determination and a track record of achievement to sharewith us. You will be self-directed and able to demonstrate your understanding of commercially deliverable planning permissions. You will be flexible and able to travel to sites across the Central Belt of Scotland.Delivering on excellence and control are key to success within this role.We would also be interested to hear from ambitious planners with up to two years experience.
