As a Barclays Reference Architecture Java Engineer within the Chief Technology Office, you will be working within Development Services (DS), whose aim is to improve the developer quality of life at Barclays. You will play a pivotal role in identifyingreusable solutions, solving hard problems and delivering consistent engineering practice. You will also be responsible for reviewing the quality of open source and involved in data driven decision making. In this collaborative role, you will be engaging withthe banks developer community, using your experience and knowledge to provide providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues. What will you be doing Designing and developing solutions that empower teams to deliver at pace while accelerating the adoption of reuse and inner source good practice e.g searchable curated content Acting as as reuse advocate to the developer community Developing solutions and approaches that remove the friction of consuming and contributing to OSS, yet meet bank standards for OSS licence compliance and cyber security Collaborating with Technical Architects to drive their strategy and understand how DS can be an enabler and how this should influence CTO to ensure compatibility Researching practices and approaches used outside Barclays for how they could be applied within Delivering proofs of concepts and experiments to inform future architecture and strategy Identifying current technology approaches and challenges that add friction to adopting the CTO technology strategy What were looking for: Demonstrable experience with modern development practices in Python Proven development skills including automated testing, continuous integration, Docker and Git source control Experience of owning technical solutions within a technology function using Agile methodology Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Skills that will help you in the role: Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CloudFormation,Terraform and Chef, Public Cloud infrastructure ecosystem Experience in supporting applications in the live, production environment; leading an inner-source or open-source project Experience of designing application architectural principles and approaches such as ReST, SOA, micro-services, Security in application architectures and designs Docker and scheduling solutions such as Kubernetes, messaging/queuing solutions, architectural patterns, developing with relational databases and data driven solutions Where will you be workingOur new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration.
