RatesOne Developer Glasgow As a Barclays RatesOne Developer, you will be joining The Macro Rates business team within Markets Pre-Trade area. You will have the opportunity to perform activities related to the development, unit testing, deployment, support and maintenance of new or existingsoftware applications used by the Fixed Income Rates business, both in-house and vendor applications, as per the key accountabilities described below. What will you be doing • Facing off against trading, quant, and product teams, partnership with first-line support teams, and interaction with lateral functions such as risk, controls, and compliance • Working with the vendor to analyse those requirements to find the most appropriate method for incorporating them into existing systems • Developing those requirements including making the necessary changes in the internal adapters as well as the vendor system • Working on Unit /system /regression /performance testing /conduct code reviews for those requirements • Providing inventive/novel solutions to business issues within short timescales • Maintaining and enforcing project standards ensuring they are adhered to proactively add to these standards whenever possible • Maintaining our commitment to a global code base and ensure other regions are kept informed of breaking changes • Ensuring DevOps principles are adopted in applications What were looking for: • Engineering /CS Graduate with an understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts and experience using object orientated programming languages • Excellent Java knowledge with experience working with low latency messaging systems such as Kafka and Solace, preferably on Unix platforms • Experience of working with distributed systems within a Micro-Service architecture • Ability to understand, implement and influence security concepts and solutions with an analytical approach to root cause identification and pro-active design improvement Skills that will help you in the role: • Knowledge of Object Orientated programming languages and design principles • Knowledge of Relational Databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server), XML and JSON • Experience with Agile Development methodologies, Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery and System integration • Experience working with applications deployed to a cloud platform using Kubernetes orchestration Where will you be working Our new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration.
