Job Description

Radiotherapy Physics has a vacancy at its entry Clinical Technologist grade within its Technology Services section based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer. This post involves working within a team of engineers, who undertake the servicing and repair of the Department’s radiotherapy linear accelerator equipment and associated systems. Duties will include specialised support on a variety of specialised radiotherapy equipment undertaking routine quality assurance testing, and planned maintenance and repair outside of clinical working hours. You must be meticulous and have excellent communication and team working skills. You will be expected to work in a flexible manner as radiotherapy services are provided across extended working hours (7.30am till 8 pm) and participation in the weekend on-call system is required. Rotation to cover duties at both sites will be required. You should hold an appropriate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, medical technology or an equivalent qualification (Degree/HNC/HND) provided the knowledge, training and experience profile matches the requirements of the post. Knowledge of the underlying technologies used in radiotherapy technology, including x-ray generation and detection, and microwave and electromechanical systems would be desirable along with an understanding of the methodology applied to equipment design, construction, fault diagnosis and repair to component level.
