Job Description

Role: Quantity Surveyor Location: Glasgow Duration: 6 weeks (short term) Day rate: £35 - £45 per hour (UmbrellaInside IR35)Summary of the Quantity Surveyor role:My client is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team, on a contract basis, located in Glasgow on a major utilities scheme.Responsibilities for the Quantity Surveyor:

  • Work with the operations team to prepare clear and accurate quarterly forecasts for the target cost schemes
  • Management and recording of changes including submission and agreement of early warning notices compensation events and quotations.
  • Submitting of monthly applications to the client and ensuring payment is received
  • Risk & opportunity management
  • Monthly cost and value reconciliation & management
  • Procurement and management of supply chain
  • Management of direct reports, to include annual performance review
  • Site visits and remeasure of completed works
  • Ensure compliance with Milestone standards and procedures in respect of commercial activities
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the Method of Highways method measurement
  • Ad hoc commercial duties as job requires
Requirements for the Quantity Surveyor:
  • Degree qualified in a commercial discipline OR equivalent experience
  • Strong level of identifiable commercial experience within the construction industry
  • Skilled negotiator and communicator
  • Good knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
  • IT proficient, particularly in MS Office Excel
  • Happy to be on site 4/5 days per week
  • Happy to use their car and travel between sites
  • Experience measuring utility work
  • Telecomms / Utility experience required
