Job Description

Our client is an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity (including Aerospace); Biomedical Engineering; Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering;Infrastructure and Environment; and Systems, Power and Energy. They have in the region of 170 academics and 190 researchers supported by approximately 70 technicians and 40 professional services staff. Currently, they have ~500 research students working towardsdoctorates.They are an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity (including Aerospace); Biomedical Engineering; Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering;Infrastructure and Environment; and Systems, Power and Energy. They have in the region of 170 academics and 190 researchers supported by approximately 70 technicians and 40 professional services staff. Currently, they have ~500 research students working towardsdoctorates.They are seeking to fill a professorial position for an ambitious academic to join the Materials and Manufacturing Research Group based in the Division of Systems, Power and Energy. Specifically applications in the broad area of Materials for Green EnergyTechnologies. Example research areas include but are not limited to:

  • Materials technologies for H2 production, storage and transport;
  • Materials and technologies for fuel cells;
  • Energy materials for emerging green technologies (including solar cells, batteries and super capacitors);
  • Materials and technologies for structural batteries;
  • Materials for power transmission and distribution.
The successful applicant is expected to have strong experimental focus with complementary expertise in manufacturing and/or modelling.The post holder will join a vibrant environment with world-leading research groups in Computational Engineering and Energy and Sustainability as well as Materials and Manufacturing, and with a School-wide Net Zero Challenge.Their existing strengths encompass the following areas: composite materials and manufacturing; computational and data-driven modelling; energy and multifunctional materials; architected materials and metamaterials; additive and digital manufacturing; surfaceengineering and tribology; lightweight metallic alloys; and infrastructure materials.They host fundamental research that is developed with the ambition to lead to industrial and academic impact.
