Principal Engineer - Maritime (WFH through Covid)£43.20ph Ltd (Inside IR35 post April)6 month contractGlasgowAdvantage Resourcing are working in partnership with a world class manufacturing organisation operating within the defence sector to find a principal level mechanical engineer to lead a team of four engineers across the design and development of various outfit arrangements on the ship.Outfit refers to the design or operation of: Deck coverings, Coatings, Insulation & Linings, Accommodation and Wet Spaces, Medical, Ships Access & Escape (i.e. doors, hatches, ladders).You will be managing the Change Log that describes all changes that take place as the design evolves, essential to maintaining configuration control for the wider project teamTypical actions here will include:* Preparing and supporting Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews and ensure the necessary evidence and documentation is in place * Working with a team of designers and engineers allocated to systems within their responsibility and to progress the tasks identified in the related Statement of Works in accordance with the agreed schedules & budgets * Producing progress reports for allocated work packages, ensuring that the agreed scope is delivered within budget and schedule, and that any additional scope is identified and costed / charged separately * Managing the production of Layout Drawings for Outfit compartments for review by stakeholders You will possess: * Degree in Naval Architecture/Ship Design with knowledge and competence in Naval Ship outfitting * A high degree of proficiency with the CAD tools in use particularly FORAN and 2D/3D AutoCAD * Familiarity with implementing engineering change to the design of vessels including use of Product Lifecycle Management tools e.g. Windchill * Ability to assess, check and approve calculations, sketches, tools and procedures produced by the team * Design experience at various stages within the build lifecycle (concept to final delivery) If you feel you meet the criteria please apply, for more information contact Sam at Advantage Resourcing on Advantage Resourcing is a service driven recruitment consultancy.
