Job Description

NHS GREATER GLASGOW & CLYDEDIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORATEDEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL PHYSICS AND BIO-ENGINEERINGRadiotherapy PhysicsBeatson West of Scotland Cancer CentreGartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow & Monklands Hospital, AirdriePRINCIPAL CLINICAL PHYSICISTBand 8AA vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Scientist to join the Dosimetry Section of Radiotherapy Physics at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The Centre operates thirteen Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, with a wide range of specialised VMAT planning techniques including SABR for a wide range of clinical sites, many delivered using FFF technology. You will be based at Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow but may be required to carry out some duties at the Lanarkshire Beatson satellite centre in Airdrie, Lanarkshire.This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and experience within a large Centre, contributing to aspects of the scientific support services provided in the Department and participating in a wide ranging number of new and ongoing scientific developments. You will contribute to the commissioning of complex radiotherapy equipment, help develop new planning techniques, develop new QA systems, provide support for Clinical Trials, contribute to teaching and training and participate in varied projects underpinning the operation of the Cancer Centre.You should be able to demonstrate evidence of experience in radiotherapy, be state registered Clinical Scientists and should preferably hold Corporate Membership of IPEM.
