The question is – are you ready to bring yoursWe have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Specialist within the Platform Engineering Team in Technology Operations.The Platform Engineering team develop, manage and maintain the Bank’s Operational Platform that is used to deliver and operate the Bank’s applications using a mixture of inhouse and industry leading products. The team promote best practice on platform engineering and new ways of managing the Bank’s technology landscape; in particular the adoption of Continuous Delivery methods.Here’s what you’ll be doing...

  • Developing, supporting and maintaining the Bank’s Operational Platform
  • Engineering, validating, implementing and quality assuring technical solutions
  • Root cause analysis and remediation of issues
  • Automating the configuration and setup of hardware, operating systems and services to our internal standards
  • Working closely with others to estimate work, manage domain scope, risks and issues.
  • Owning and/or contributing to Operational Platform component roadmaps
  • Collaborating with internal and external parties to provide excellent customer service

  • Proven experience of Linux system engineering, preferably with Redhat Enterprise Linux
  • Experience of Scripting (any of Shell, Python, Ansible, Bash, Perl)
  • Experience of server build, configuration & dependency management systems (preferably Puppet, Satellite)
  • Experience of VMware
  • Proven track record of ability to engineer and deliver technology change to challenging deadlines
  • A positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication & teamwork skills

  • Experience of Solaris and or AIX administration
  • Experience of Veritas (VCS)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Engineering
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Knowledge of Datacentre management
  • Knowledge of Performance Monitoring and Event Management
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary agile teams
