Job Description

PhlebotomistLocation - GlasgowSector - PhlebotomySalary - £21,000 - £22,000Full time, permanent roleOur client is a leading provider of human blood specimens, establishing a presence in Glasgow and offering a Phlebotomist opportunity to join their new team. This position is a great opportunity for a qualified phlebotomist to apply and develop their skills.The role is well suited to individuals with phlebotomist certification and previous experience, specifically with collecting from donors.The RoleThis position is suitable for individuals with an existing phlebotomist certification, with prior experience in collecting and handling human blood samples. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for:

  • Collecting blood samples from donors,
  • Undertaking donor identification, including measuring details like height, weight, haemoglobin, etc,
  • Working out the best method to draw blood from each donor,
  • Displaying a kind, polite, and sympathetic manner to donors, ensuring their welfare and peace of mind are prioritised,
  • Minimising donor wait times,
  • Labelling vials correctly and delivering them to the laboratory,
  • Always following infection control standards with donors and equipment,
  • Ensuring any donors feeling distressed are attended to promptly and properly.
You will also be expected to assist in the laboratory as required.The role follows a shift pattern on a 3-week rotation, described below:Week 1: 07:00 - 15:30Week 2: 08:00 - 16:30Week 3: 09:00 - 17:30Each working week is Monday to Friday.Skills and Experience NeededAn ideal candidate will have:
  • A qualification in phlebotomy (essential),
  • Previous phlebotomy experience (6 months minimum),
  • A proficient command of spoken and written English,
  • The ability to perform in a high pressure, dynamic environment,
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records,
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
The PackageOur client is offering this opportunity on a full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is £21,000 - £22,000 per annum with a competitive benefits package.
