GartnavelGeneral Hospital is the West of Scotland regionalcentreforspecialistOphthalmologyServicesand thenationalcentreforOphthalmicOncology. TheArtificialEye Departmentprovides an importantserviceforpatientswhohavesufferedloss of an eyedue to trauma or disease(mostlyeyecancer).Theserviceprovides artificial,prostheticeyes,hand-painted and unique to each patient, which are manufactured in the on-siteworkshop and fittedatoutpatientclinics. Thedepartment has a large,long-termpatientcaseload, as it managespatients’artificial eye requirements on a lifelong basis. You willbe one of only twostaffmembers in thedepartmentand willbefullyinvolved in thefullrange of activitiesassociated with theservice,undersupervision of theSeniorOrbital Prosthetist,including the process of manufactureforindividualisedprosthese and outpatientconsultationsforassessment, fitting and aftercare. You should have the relevantexperience in the field of orbital prosthetics or similar.
