As a Barclays Operations Support Engineer Lead you will work as part of a regional functions technology level 2 support team and be responsible for the continual support and maintenance of the technology applications used by our global businesses. Therole will be aligned to a specific Business area and be responsible for resolving any incidents, and designing fixes where required. In addition the role will be responsible for the deployment of new change into the production environment. What will you be doing You will be performing incident and problem management activities, including working closely with technology and business stakeholders Providing innovative and tactical solutions to issues as well as improving the performance of our Applications and processes including major incidents. Planning execution timelines/activities of various major releases and critical changes into Production and DR environments Being able to independently identify repetitive or time consuming processes that can be automated, especially where they benefit multiple business areas. Creating required knowledge base documentation required to support applications, including appropriate sign-off where required Coordinating various support activities across the global team, including handover of issues, knowledge sharing, training and collaboration. Being off-hours on-call support may be required on a rotational basis Contributing to building Knowledge base and overall good health of the application and implement and adhere to ITIL standards across the team What were looking for: Expert knowledge of Linux or Windows based operating system and provide proficient support experience with applications using AWS & Salesforce Expert knowledge of working with databases such as Oracle or MS-SQL including fine tuning SQL queries, advanced investigation skills for performance issues Significant experience supporting application using big data technologies (Hadoop) Expert knowledge of job scheduling, batch jobs and detailed understanding of one or more of scheduling tools Skills that will help you in the role: Significant working experience of Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime within the regulated sector, or an equivalent support function. Significant experience working under a DevOps model, with hands-on experience operating and developing various automation tools such as Nolio or Chef. ITIL certified with knowledge of any of the following technologies; Shell scripting / Python; Programming languages i.e. Java, C# SQL, including PL/SQL; JCL, AppDynamics, Geneos, Splunk, Kibana Where will you be workingWeve been in Scotland for 250 years, and our significance has never been as important as it is today.
