Job Description

Our client are looking for a Network Engineer to assist with network engineering, implementation, fault resolution, network management and operations.The successful candidate must be able to oversee many tasks simultaneously and youll gain some great experience with new technologies.Client DetailsBased in Glasgow our client are one of Scotlands leading provider of cloud and connectivity services.Description

  • Deployment, BAU support and ongoing development of our clients service provider, multi-tenant cloud and private data centre networks for customers.
  • Deployment, support and development of customer enterprise networks.
  • Aiding the Senior Network Engineer in defining customer requirements and producing customer designs for new projects.
  • Attending project meetings as a representative of the Connect Division.
  • 2nd/3rd line escalation for network related incidents and faults.
  • Taking ownership of incidents and driving to fault resolution.
  • Raising and presenting required network changes at internal and customer change boards.
  • Lead or work as part of a team, which may be onsite, virtual, and multi- functional, helping to address highly complex issues.
  • Proactively search for potential enhancements, and improvements to the smooth running of operations, such as automation and cost reduction.
Profile
  • A strong understanding of networking. L2 switching, L3 routing, network monitoring, firewalls, physical cabling, spanning tree, IPv4, dynamic routing, DNS, DHCP.
  • Ability to conduct network troubleshooting, problem solving and logical reasoning in order to resolve network related issues.
  • Strong knowledge on analysing network traffic ( e.g. using packet capture, enterprise network monitoring solutions)
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies quickly on the job with the help of senior engineers.
  • Willing to study and gain additional vendor certifications.
  • The ability to deal with a fast-moving environment, dealing with multiple projects and faults simultaneously.
  • The nature of the job will require evening and nighttime work when making major changes on our network.
  • Professional exposure to Cisco and/or Fortinet
  • Experience of automation tools and scripting
  • Background of IT Support
