We are looking for a meticulous Law Accountant to manage the financial aspects of our legal department. This position requires strong financial acumen, a firm grasp of legal terminology, and a deep understanding of the professional services industry.Client DetailsOur team of over 70 professionals located in six offices, comprising CILEX, Costs Barristers, Costs Lawyers, Solicitors, and Solicitors Advocates, provide our clients with unparalleled expertise. We are committed to using innovative technology to generatemanagement information and provide robust, decisive recommendations for cost budgeting.Description- Manage a costs case load of Defender and / or Pursuer expenses files;- Drafting points of objection / responses to accounts claims;- Negotiate on expenses offers;- Advise and help on all aspects of third party claim for expenses;- Draft accounts of expenses- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders;- Progress cases, under supervision as required, to an effective and satisfactory conclusion for clients;- Maintain management information as required by the client SLA;- Maintain and progress cases using a case management system;- Keep up to date with best practice and compliance mandatory training- To ensure all cases are delivered to the agreed quality and within defined service levels as required by the client service level agreement (SLA);- To ensure that all reports are produced within SLA;- Use of the case management system and / or use of standard documentation wherever appropriate to maximise cost efficiency;- Utilise negotiation and communication skills to proactively settle/assist in the settlement of cases to the satisfaction of the client whilst further developing legal technical knowledge;- Record all time accurately;- Maintain accurate management information as required by firm and / or as required by the client SLA;- To ensure that meet any set key performance indicators;- Interpret financial information to monitor your own performance against agreed targets ensuring theres an ability to explain any differential;- Partake in any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the firm business as and when required;- To build and maintain relationships with focus on collaboration between internal firms stakeholders and client stakeholders;- To follow all the Firms policies and procedures;- To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times;Profile- High proficiency with Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel and Word;- Analytical skills, for the practical application of the law to cases;- Excellent written and oral communication skills for preparing reports and written submissions;- Negotiation skills (as the role requires the individual to be able to negotiate the level of costs claimed and deal with contentious issues);- Logical problem solving skills;- Accurate numeracy skills and the ability to work with data;- The ability to follow processes with excellent attention to detail and accuracy;- Ability to manage time, to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively;- The ability to work well under pressure;- The ability to prioritise work load and multitask;- Knowledge of current trends;- Ability to work autonomously, as well as being a good team player;- Ability to use initiative and problem solve situations as they arise;- Able to be flexible when working on several activities simultaneously;- Excellent communication skills to able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing;- Professional and approachable with a "can do" attitude to successfully interact with the Senior Management Team, colleagues and external client stakeholders;- A willingness to learn and develop new skills;Highly Desirable: - Working in Costs Law of a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience of cost cases in:- The insurance sector;- Road Traffic Accidents;- Employment Liability and Public Liability;- Industrial Disease;Desirable / Advantage:- Experience in assessing / negotiating accounts of expenses- Experience in drafting accounts of expenses- Experience in preparing points of objection / responsesJob Offer£60,000 plus in terms of salaryHighly desirable benefits
