Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a business that leverages expert knowledge and proprietary platforms to uniquely enable bacteriophage immobilisation and stabilisation, to expedite the global commercialisation of unique, sustainable, naturalantibacterial solutions, safeguarding animal and human health.Platforms will be based on a licence model, with the potential to incorporate service and product revenue where appropriate.As antibiotic resistance and a focus on reducing the use of chemicals across food production, animal and human health become of utmost importance to government, industries and consumers, the massive potential for applied bacteriophage technology to providecomprehensive solutions is becoming increasingly recognised.We are executing an out-licensing and technology transfer business model, advancing strategic collaborations in defined Fields of Use in food packaging, aquaculture, and animal health with a roadmap into human health and personal care.Within each of these sectors, there are many pressing needs for powerful anti-infectives to address prevalent bacterial infections, associated product shelf life, freshness and safety issues, over-use of antibiotics and the emergence of antibiotic resistance.Ourtechnology also has strong potential in other industries, including horticulture and crop science.Job purposeThis is a new post within the scientific development team. We are recruiting for various levels of roles and so welcome applications from both new and experienced scientists.Main duties of the Jobholder:

  • Assist lab staff with project-specific duties and enable the team to deliver results.
  • Ensuring the laboratory is maintained well with regards to general cleanliness, operation of equipment and the provision of key consumables.
  • To support project objectives and deadlines are met
  • Support study management including responsibility for the technical conduct of studies, as well as for the interpretation, analysis, documentation and reporting of results.
  • Meet with, present results, plan ahead and maintain relationships with external partners
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the research laboratory and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with senior managers keeping them informed on projects.
  • Supervision and training of junior scientists, where appropriate.
  • Keep up to date with relevant scientific developments
  • Produce well-written, compliant and traceable laboratory notebooks and raw data files
  • To actively contribute to the improvement of ways of working within the laboratory and communicating best practices with the rest of the laboratory team
  • To assist in the maintenance, calibrations and performance verification of items of equipment as required to ensure that it is fit for purpose at all times.
  • Ensuring glassware is cleaned and stored correctly, including routine checks for damage.
  • Use of Aseptic techniques and Autoclaves for sterilisation
  • Interact effectively with all members of the team, including senior management.
The job holder will be a qualified Microbiologist, who is willing to learn with confidence and enthusiasm. Additionally, they should possess the ability to be flexible should priorities change.
