Job Description

Pertemps are recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to work with a Glasgow based client on a temporary basis.Start Date: ASAPContract Length: Until end of October initiallyPay Rate: £11.96 per hourHours: Part-time (Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8am-2pm)Location: Glasgow (G12)Main Responsibilities:

  • Wash, rinse, and sterilize various types of laboratory glassware
  • Ensure that all cleaned glassware is properly dried, inspected for cleanliness
  • Operate autoclave machines to sterilize laboratory equipment, media and waste materials.
  • Follow established autoclaving protocols and safety procedures to ensure effective sterilization.
  • Collect and segregate laboratory waste, including biohazardous, chemical and general waste.
  • Prepare waste containers for autoclaving and dispose of autoclaved waste in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in managing laboratory supplies, including glassware, autoclave bags and cleaning solutions
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the glassware washing area and waste disposal zone.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols, when handling materials and operating machines.
Key Skills:
  • Experience of working in a similar environment
  • Ability to operate various laboratory equipment
  • Willing to work in different wash- up areas as required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
